On average we run 5 days a week, for an average of 30-35 miles per week. Our pace is about 9:30-10 min/mile. One day on the weekend we do a long run, which we usually set aside 2 hours to complete. We talk the entire time we are running. So, rounding up, we probably talk to each other 6 hours a week just when we’re running.
You would be amazed at the conversations we have and the solutions we develop. Even more amazing is the fact we can talk this much and STILL not cover everything we need to discuss. Take today for example. We ran 5 miles, but even after 50 minutes I just barely mentioned to Sara the new book I started reading, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.
It is about her year long journey to try all avenues of “happiness”. During the month of January, she focuses on “clutter” & “getting organized,” two things Sara and I love to discuss & do. She mentions cleaning out closets and straightening things around the house. A trick she suggests that I love is “to do anything that takes less than a minute”. Sara mentioned she plays a game to see if she can finish several little task in “5 minutes or less”. I like to see how fast I can unload the dishwasher. My personal record is 3 minutes! Check out the link to her blog… She has a lot of great tips!
